Ask A Question

Asking a question takes courage.

It does not matter what your age is or what life situation you find yourself in. Asking a question can be difficult—similar to trying to cap a volcano! Sooner or later, the questions are going to erupt. I encourage you to be open about your questions. As we have discovered in this study, many of the most important individuals in the Bible had gnawing questions they needed to have answered before committing their lives to God. Others were passionately committed to God and still had questions. Admitting doubt, desiring more information, believing based on evidence, doing due diligence—these are all important, if not essential, elements in making wise decisions. If I can help you in your journey of faith or if you are exploring the truth claims of Christianity, I hope to hear from you.

I hope to hear from you.

Your Question

What is Christian Thinkers Society and why is it needed?

It’s an exciting time be a Christian, but also more difficult. Christian Thinkers Society is a dynamic ministry that challenges Christians and non-Christians alike, to think more deeply and more accurately about the big questions and ultimate truth. Many in today’s Church do not know the Bible as well as they should; people outside Church and faith hardly know it all. As a consequence, the Church is ill-equipped to provide the answers that seekers and objectors need. Christian Thinkers Society provides these answers and instructs everyone in this vital task.

What is Apologetics?

Everyone asks this question, so you are not alone! This is typically not a word many use in casual conversation. Considering Socrates used this word five hundred years before Jesus walked the earth, it would not be considered a Christian term in its original setting. Apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia, which means a defense or answer, as in a court of law, and is used throughout the New Testament. To summarize, Luke (1:4) said that it is possible for you to have a certainty about your Christian faith. That is precisely what Apologetics does for you. Alister McGrath defines, Christian apologetics (as) the business of identifying, understanding, and answering concerns and difficulties that ordinary people have about the Christian faith, and also demonstrating its power to explain things and satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart.

A “Christian Thinker” – is that an oxymoron?

For many Christians it is. Some skeptics reason that describing someone as a “Christian Thinker” is similar to saying something like “cruel kindness” or “a new classic” – it doesn’t make sense. Unfortunately, too many Christians have not demonstrated a thinking-faith and are not prepared or equipped to answer the most pedestrian questions relating to their beliefs. I have taught university students who believed that Billy Graham preached the Sermon on the Mount and Mother Theresa authored books of the New Testament (both of these are incorrect, in case you were wondering). We can and should do better. Jesus said the greatest commandment was to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” It is possible to love God with your entire mind. Christian Thinkers Society is here to serve, equip you and inspire you to love God with your entire being.
